As promised:

Marie Antoinette looking out a stained glass window.

Based on Liberty Leading the People (also cover art for Coldplay’s Viva la Vida)

King Louis

The artistically out of focus revolutionary.

A shot of Marie and Louis together… one of my favorite compositions in the video.
And finally, a sneak peak at a screengrab from “The Oliver Sessions #3″
(using an 85mm lens with the Brevis35 lens adapter)

We’re hoping to have the Viva La Vida music video done and out by either tonight or tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted.

Hey all, with Greyscale starting to rocket through pre-production, we figured we should do some more equipment tests to get more comfortable with the HVX and shooting on location. So this last weekend a group of dancers, moviemakers, and people with a vision got together to shoot a dance-themed unofficial music video to Coldplay’s Viva La Vida. There were people decked out in costume, dancing in a fountain, and shooting in several locations we had never been granted access to before.
We’re currently in Day 3 of post on the music video, and I’ll post some of the better screengrabs after we hit color correction.

One of the initial influences that was a driving force behind seeing just how effective some good production quality can keep a good message from being lost was the Nooma series. No matter what you think of Rob Bell or the series itself, I found that paying attention to lighting and sound (and shooting on film) beat out a lot of locally made products in what someone might call the “Christian entertainment” industry. Although, it probably isn’t fair to lump the Nooma series in with that crowd since it is far more direct in its goals.
Anyway, check it out and see what you think. I recommend Dust and Kickball the most.
